eCube Systems Announces Release and General Availability of NXTera 6.0 High Performance RPC Middleware
Product modernizes traditional RPC middleware, expanding support for LINUX, virtualization and contemporary Web services. Provides modernization path for distributed Delphi, VB and PowerBuilder client-server applications with enhanced support for Java and .NET.
Houston , TX April 27, 2010 -- eCube Systems®, a leading middleware products and modernization company, announced the release of NXTera™ 6.0 High Performance RPC Middleware. This comprehensive release includes a broad array of new features that simplify the development and management of cross-platform distributed applications. NXTera 6.0 also streamlines the replacement of legacy RPC middleware in distributed applications built in Delphi, PowerBuilder and Visual Basic with optional support for Web services.
“RPC middleware is the backbone of distributed programming – that is the case whether you are talking about today’s Web services or legacy client-server applications based on technologies like Entera,” says Kevin Barnes, CEO of eCube Systems. “NXTera 6.0 delivers a new standard in high performance RPC middleware by improving existing capabilities and expanding support for contemporary technologies including Eclipse, Web services, virtualization and Linux.”
The new release of NXTera 6.0, available today, includes several new and updated features.
Simplified RPC Development
NXTera 6.0 includes an Eclipse-based workbench that simplifies the creation and maintenance of distributed business logic and their corresponding client interfaces. Utilities and wizards support distributed RPC, .NET and SOAP development with C, COBOL, FORTRAN and Java. These tools encapsulate expertise and technical "know-how" in an IDE that automates the generation of Web services interfaces and new client stubs for Java, C# and Python/Jython.
Runtime Management Tools
A major new component in NXTera 6.0 is NXTminder, a platform-independent application management tool. It is designed to simplify runtime operation, while increasing the dependability of enterprise applications built on distributed services. NXTminder easily replaces the NetMinder, Appminder and AppCenter, distributed application management tools that are commonly used to manage the availability of Entera and CORBA RPC applications.
Java Middleware Implementation
Much of the new development completed with NXTera 6.0 will be done with the new all Java RPC runtime and broker implementations. These core technologies services enable cross-platform integration, communication and the dynamic discovery of distributed components. NXTera 6.0 is certified on zLinux, Redhat, Suse, MacOS/X, OpenVMS, Irix and all contemporary versions of UNIX.
Enhanced Operation -- New Data Highlights
The new NXTera persistent broker with Network Address Translation, makes it easier to implement cost saving virtualization solutions with legacy RPC applications. This is a powerful benefit when using distributed apps on a VPN over the Internet. Additionally, NXTera 6.0 adds a native MySQL data access server and well as an updated JDBC version that improves speed and flexibility. By adding support for Protocol Buffers, the data serialization format developed by Google, NXTera provides a standardized binary format that increases the speed at which data can be moved between application components and distributed Web services.
Modernize Distributed Client-Server Application
Many client-server applications built with Visual Basic, PowerBuilder and Delphi were based on RPC middleware such as Entera, EZRPC and others. NXTera 6.0 provides a powerful upgrade path for these applications. In the case of Entera, NXTera 6.0 provides a plug-and-play replacement solution that supports existing application clients and adds Java, .NET and Web services support. These capabilities enable server-side logic implementations to move to virtual machines and up-to-date operating systems, including zLinux on the IBM mainframe platform. Additionally, eCube offers a range of options for modernizing the presentation layer of Client-Server applications.
