eCube recently announced support for HP's OpenVMS platform. Now all of our core technology offerings are available to the OpenVMS community. These offerings include: NXTware Integrated Maintenance Environment, NXTware Eclipse and the eCube family of modernization and assessment offerings.

Eclipse on OpenVMS

NXTware Eclipse is the industry’s first Eclipse implementation especially designed for OpenVMS running on HP Integrity servers. With NXTware Eclipse, users can leverage the standard Eclipse platform for contemporary development with wizards that simplify Web services development with AXIS2. The tool also includes tooling that enables OpenVMS developers to create Web 2.0 composite ("Mash-up") applications.

When used in conjunction with eCube's NXTware IME tooling, NXTware Eclipse simplifies the maintenance of applications based on legacy OpenVMS languages and middleware platforms. All of this is accomplished with wizards that automate time-consuming tasks and allow less-experienced maintenance engineers and OpenVMS novices to be more productive.

MIddleware tooling for OpenVMS

The NXTware IME for RPC allows maintenance engineers with little or no experience with COBOL and C /C++ to be productive maintaining and integrating legacy applications.  The RPC NXTware stack combines 10 Wizards and 8 tools designed to make operating applications based on legacy platforms more affordable and efficient to run.

Modernization process for OpenVMS

ARM modernization is a series of tool-enabled disciplines that facilitate the understanding, improvement, migration, reuse and/or transformation of existing software systems. eCube's ARM process is made up of three major phases: assessment, remediation and modernization. Because the ARM process breaks down into phases, organizations can readily apply selected ARM disciplines to a wide variety of projects.

Modernization includes moving and/or migrating applications based on heritage technologies into contemporary technologies, platforms and languages. In addition, Modernization includes the capture, reuse and redeployment of existing data and business rules in object based languages, such as Java or C#, new data models, services oriented architectures and model driven architectures.
